Lucien Vadislav Calugarul
One day, up to a cliff
That overlooks the water
I jumped in to save a girl
It was somebody's daughter
And now the ring that's on my hand
It was given to me by her
And to this day we all sit around
And dream of ways to get higher
To get much higher

Relationship Status: Widower
Character Type: Human

Weight: 267lb
Body Type: Tall and stocky could be the only way to describe the warrior Lucien.
Best Feature: His sense of loyalty.
Worst Feature: His lack of mercy.
Sexuality: Straight
Personal Style: Seemingly a giant by stature, Lucien stands at roughly 6’5”, with the build of a linebacker.
Though, Heaven help the person who comments on his supposedly ‘all brawn’ stature.
His chest and shoulders are wide, and what parts of him isn’t covered in muscle, is tattooed with large, intricate designs supposedly having references to old family emblems. These tattoos are found across his lower back, buttocks, and around his shoulder blades. There is also a winding, thorn filled vine that snakes around his inner wrist and thumb, and three small teardrops over the vein on the crook of his elbow.
His nose is crooked, as if broken one too many times, and his mouth is eternally pulled up into a sardonic smile. Behind a pair of scratched, slightly cracked Oakly glasses are a pair of very pale blue eyes, both of which are not able to withstand bright lights for a long period of time; a genetic defect that he was born with. There is also a multitude of old, ragged scars that run along his ribs and stomach, as well as along the backs of his calves and around his wrists.
When seen in any normal setting, Lucien will always be found wearing slacks, a button up shirt, a dress jacket, and a strangely simple necklace around his corded neck, seemingly made of faded red and blue yarn. He also keeps his hair very short, with a ‘so I don’t miss anyone coming at me because of a freaking haircut’ excuse.
Face Claim: Hugh Jackman
Abilities: Given his volatile life, Lucien's abilities revolve around his fighting prowess, his lack of mercy on the battlefield and certain 'interrogation skills' that he learned while in the Romani army.
Personality:
Eternally cool and collected, Lucien has the air of someone used to being obeyed, practically oozing an Old World charm that attracts some, but mostly annoys those that he meets. He speaks formally and slowly, enunciating each word as if expecting to be judged by the thick Romanian accent that taints his voice. And, though he always seems to have an air of nonchalance about him, he is almost militaristically in tune with his surroundings.
Though he seems to enjoy being in a social setting, Lucien is much more comfortable standing in some dark corner, watching events play out before him. While those in his past had loved going out and finding trouble, he was always a fan of staying in his home- specifically, the large library that his family owned- and studying various histories, or science novels specially shipped in from the Americas. Now that he is a resident of the United States, he is still most comfortable in a familiar setting, and tends to get very stiff and coldly formal when cornered or interrogated. He is polite and courteous to strangers, fiercely loyal to those he deems as friends or loved ones, and has no qualms with turning into a heartless bastard, if the situation called for breaking necks in order to help those he cares about.
There seemingly isn’t anything that phases the strange man, but he has been known to become very uncomfortable around children, especially toddlers. At the same time, though he will probably not appreciate prying, there is an air of sadness eternally following his every step.
And if one dared bring out a weapon of any kind- especially anything fire-related- near his person, even in jest? The normally suave, sophisticated figure will turn into a rage-filled berserker whose only thought is to escape, by any means necessary. It is in this way that he earns the nickname 'Nitro': he's all liquid and calm on the outside, but after shaken? Expect some explosions, baby.

Bio:
Ah, Romania; the birthplace of Gothic myth, and home to Vlad Dragul. It was with these stories that Lucien was introduced into the world, and it was through these stories that his life would be inextricably changed.
Born and raised in Dargul in the Crisana region of Romania, to a Mihael and Daciana Calugarul, Lucien grew up amongst the tall trees and vast mountains that surrounded his town. Though politics and economic turmoil tore his country apart for many years, Lucien’s parents tried their best to shield their son and daughter- Lucien’s younger sister, Ileana- from the brunt of the violence.
Especially when said violence did not concern the Calugarul family’s way of life. Did Romania need revolutions? Perhaps, but whatever government affected the capitols, did not affect the iron rule met by Mihael Calugarul, leader of the town of Dargul.
As tradition demanded, when he turned 18, Lucien was married. At first glance, there seemed to be nothing special about the small, delicate Miruna, daughter of the town's healer. But- though their marriage started out awkward and somewhat strained; the consequence of a marriage between acquaintances- after a time, Lucien grew to love his beautiful, gentle wife, and could not picture a life without her, or their daughter, Stela.
In the summer that he turned 23, his father passed after a massive stroke, and Lucien was left to lead the town. For five years, under the guidance of elders and his father’s right hand, the people of Dargul lived on in harmony, tied only to their families, and the wild mountains that bordered the town. They were at peace, under the leadership of yet another Calugarul, and life was good.
That is, until a group of rebel soldiers came looking for the ‘riches' hoarded by the isolated people of Dargul. Through pirate gold hidden in the Carpathians by the crafty Dargul-ians, they could overthrow the current government and reign supreme over Romania.
The following battle was long and indecisive, sometimes favoring Lucien's people, and sometimes the rebels. Being used to random attacks by soldiers looking for food and pillaging, the men were armed and ready to defend their land. But simple human cruelty made simple soldiers into bloodthirsty fools, and it didn’t take long for them to use their enemy’s families against them to bring on genocide. Some of Lucien's people fled into the mountains, where they are still said to reside, but most were killed in bloody battles mirroring those fought in the medieval past. Refusing to leave his home, or give into the idea that there was gold hidden under the village, Lucien refused to run, and was captured by the rebels. It took four long days for his wife to die by the knife-clad hands of the soldiers; his beautiful Miruna, whose healing hands had helped so many after her father had passed. And it was by fire that Stela joined her mother, strapped to a chair and crying out for her father as the blaze was set. As for the Leader of Dargul, the soldiers took their time stripping him of his humanity, of his sanity, until he was nothing but the animal that they believed him to be. Burying their knives into his body, they left him to die in the ruins of his family’s castle, and without trying to save himself, Lucien waited for the end.
Which, unfortunately, never came.
Having fled into the mountains, the loyal Boian, second to old Mihael and loyal to the Calugaru line, waited for the hunters to leave and hurried to his wounded leader, quickly whisking him away. Through threats, bribes and favors, Boian managed to take his charge out of the deadened carcass of Dargul, what was their home, and into the human-filled streets of Bulgaria. There, under the discrete care of various doctors, paid not to ask questions, Lucien was brought back from the brink of death, to the land of the living.
And God, did he hate Boian for it.
It took a some time, but slowly, Lucien regained enough sanity to pass off as a ‘normal’ person. After his old friend’s death, he traveled aimlessly, learning the languages on the way, taking jobs where he could, and fulfilling his needs as quietly as possible. It was through happenstance that he was approached by a starry eyed human soldier, who promised him redemption for all that he had lost. The young man had no idea about his past, but many had lost their lives in Romania's varioius upheavals, and seeing a fellow victim to loss, the soldier provided Lucien with what he needed:
A cause.
It is in this way that he became the Chief Interrogator in the Rolslavinda Army, fighting against the current government in Romania. After their efforts to topple the establishment failed and the army disbanded, Lucien fell into mercenary work and met the psychotic Netta 'Trigger' Neftari. The two struck up a strange friendship, which Lucien sees as more of a babysitting job than anything else. In one particularly interesting job involving some American soldiers and gorilla warfare, he was approached by an older man, who offered him a job in the FBI, fighting things that are not exactly human. Given his harshly superstitious background, he had no trouble accepting the existence of other species, and joined ranks without a second thought.
Personally, Lucien believes that the 'band of brothers' is doing a good job; fighting for balance in an unbalanced world. As such, he does his best to follow the orders of his commander; all the while ready to offer up his...'services' whenever necessary.
