Her senses were slowly starting to come back online. The first thing that registered was she had one mother fucker of a headache and her jaw hurt. Next, she realized she was laying down on something. It was some kind of mattress but it wasn't comfortable by any means.
The last thing she remembered was a redhead coming at her. Making some sort of... apology? Then the lights went out.
Jo cracked open an eye and groaned as the light flooded in. Her bag was gone as well as her utility belt and all her weapons. She was a bit afraid to move. Disoriented. She could see that she was in some sort of plexiglass room. A cell.
She sat up quickly at that realization and the room spun.
Oh crap, she mumbled as she steadied herself. Rubbing her jaw, it hurt like hell, she took a look around. There was a light in the cell but outside was dark so she couldn't really see anything. She blinked her eyes a few times and attempted to stand up. A little wobbly and another wave of dizziness rolled over her. She gave herself a minute to feel solid on her feet.
Defnitely some kind of holding cell. She remembered she was going after the vampire that had some information. She recalled the encounter with that... man. The one with the weird name. What did he say. Lieutenant Curse Jordan? Some kind of military operation. She remembered she accidentally shot him in the ass and chuckled at the thought. Then it got blurry. The redhead, a shooting pain in her head and lights out. Then she woke up here.
Jo took a couple of deep breaths and tried to clear her head. She was feeling a bit better. Moving to the door of the cell she pounded on it with her fist and started yelling.
"HEY!! IS SOMEONE OUT THERE! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE! THERE IS GONNA BE TROUBLE WHEN I DON'T TURN UP! YOU KNOW THAT RIGHT?" Yeah, she didn't really know how much of a threat that was. These guys were definitely some kind of professional operation. They probably could cover their tracks pretty good. Whatever it was, she wasn't dead yet and she wasn't going down without a fight. Kat:
Leave it to Jordan to turn a simply snatch and grab mission into a complete fuck up. Ok, so to be honest, it wasn't exactly his fault but damn.. The last thing they needed these days was civilian entanglements. Civilian entanglements were sticky at the best of times, much less at times like this when they were supposed to be keeping things on the down low.Jun 1
Taking a deep breath, Commander Katarina Foster stared through the one way windows at their new "problem" and wanted to thump her head against the glass. Complications like this woman were not in their best interest but what the hell had she been suppose to do? The woman hadn't been about to give in gracefully and there would have been others in the area looking for the bloodsucking fiend. They hadn't had time to explain to her the finer arts of special ops missions and, quiet frankly, the woman's holding a gun on one of her men hadn't settled well.
So.. here they were.
Just as she had that thought, the woman in the room started to stir.
As she sat up and looked around, Kat watched her closely and then glanced behind her at Lt. Colonel Derek DeVoux. "What do you think, DeVoux? Innocent bystander or something more? She doesn't look dangerous to me but.... Looks can be decieving." DEREK
Shrugging a bit, Derek pushed himself off the table he was leaning on and moved closer to the window. Putting one hand up on the top of the window frame, the dark haired soldier watched her for a moment before seeming to come to a conclusion.
Drawing back, he sent his commanding officer a smirk and let his coffee mug down. "Well, staring at her through the window isn't telling us a damned thing... How about we earn our money and go talk to her like shes asking?" KAT
Laughing, Kat pushed away and exited the room into the hall leading to the cell. Once there, she keyed in a code and the seal popped before she opened it and walked in, Derek on her heels. As she did so, she kept her eyes on the woman and kept her position alert. "Good morning, Ms. Weston. My name is Commander Kat Foster and this is my second, Lt. Colonel Derek DeVoux. We apologize for the inconvience and unavoidable detainment but it couldn't be helped. It seems that you and Lt. Jordan had an unfortunate altercation and due to the sensitivity of our mission.... Well, we were forced to bring you here."
Pausing for a moment to let that sink in, Kat then continued. "We took liberty of running your prints and specs when we returned to headquarters but we are still puzzled by why you were in those woods in the middle of the night apparently hunting the same vamp we were.... Its not something that normal.... humans .. do.. so I hope you'll understand why we are concerned." JO
Jo continued to pound on the window for a while. Yelling to see if anyone would answer when she heard the whooshing sound of the door opening. She turned to see who was coming in to talk to her. Crossing her arms over her chest she stared as a man and woman walked through the opening.
Mumbling under her breath quietly, "It's about god damn time." Tilting her head up in a bit of a defiance stance she kept her eyes on the two. She recognized the redhead as the one who cold cocked her out in the woods. The woman introduced herself as Commander Kat Foster and the man as Lt. Colonel Derek DeVoux.
So, this was definitely some kind of military or government operation. That was for sure. What the hell did they want with some vampire? Jo put off pondering this thought as the woman talked.
Narrowing her eyes she waited and listened intently to what they were saying.
"Inconvenience?" "Unavoidable detainment?" "Unfortunate altercation?" "Sensitivity of our mission?" Yeah, well la di da. Who the hell did they think they were? Do they think they have an exclusive on hunting things in the woods?
Jo remained standing, staring at them both her eyes flicking back and forth between the man and woman. She shook her head in disbelief as the Commander told her that they had run her prints and gotten her profile from... somewhere... god only knows where. Vaguely she wondered what kind of information they had gotten on her. A credit report or something?
She raised an eyebrow when the redhead said they were still puzzled on why she had been in the woods and hunting the same vampire that they were after. THEY were puzzled? Well, that made two of them, or three of them or four of them if you counted that Lt. Jordan guy and well who knew how many people were involved in their operation.
With a little bit of a huff, Jo did have to give her some credit on the last point. It wasn't exactly something "normal" humans do. She took a deep breath and the huffiness became a full on heavy sigh. The stubborn side of her wanted to be seriously snarky and throw all the same questions right back at the two military types in front of her. However, considering she was obviously out numbered, not to mention locked in a cell... she was resolved to cooperate. At least somewhat.
"You know. I could ask the same of you. What are you government types? You obviously have some kind of military thing going on here. Commander, Lt. Colonel and your Lt. Jordan." She paused as she took another deep breath and calmed herself. That was not the path that she wanted to go down at the moment. Cooperation was her best bet right now. She needed to remember that.
"Yes, I was after that vampire. I am very aware that chasing down a vampire is not exactly... normal. However, since it is a vampire, being out in the middle of the night would be a necessity. As you must also be aware since your people were out in the same woods at the same time."
Taking another pause she ran a hand through her hair. She chewed on her lip for a moment. There was no way around it she was going to have to give a reason why she was out there.
"As far as my reasons for being out there. Well, first of all he's a vampire which is a reason all it's own. In case you aren't aware they like to kill people. Second, this particular vampire has some pretty important information. Information that could be extremely important to everyone. Something bigger than just a rogue vampire running loose. My research is point to something big going down. And for now, that's about all I want to say. It would be nice if I could get some answer from you now. As well as maybe some food and something to drink. I'm starved." KAT
There had been a point in time when Kat's calm would have been unruffled by the womans words. She'd dealt with snarky creatures before but.. Unfortunately for this one, the red headed commander was treading a thin line these days. Not that she wanted to kill the woman or anything but her ire was definitely flashing as she stood watching her. Just being fresh through the "change" her emotions and reactions were much more volitale these days and it made her even more deadly than normal. Hence DeVoux's presence in this little interview. For once, he got to play the cool head to a temperamental team member.
A fact she was sure he just LOVED. Cue the sarcasm
Turning to face her second in command, Kat arched her brow and bared a smile that flashed with fang. Her voice was cool as she spoke but it was a kind of cool that hinted at the calm before a storm. "You know, Lt. It constantly amazes me how stupid people can be by running their idiotic mouths before they know exactly what they are dealing with. I guess this is what makes us...." she drawled out, casting a cold look over her shoulder at the blond."... superior to them.... and what lands them in cell blocks while those of us like you and i get the last laugh."
Ok, so she was being bitchy but what the fuck did the woman expect? She'd interrupted a mission, shot a team member, forced them to take definitive actions in order to stay under the radar and then she decided to get mouthy instead of showing some common sense. Kat was always one for braveness in the face of danger but they'd just stated that they weren't going to harm her so her little tirade wasn't the best move she could have made. Ad on her little comment about vampires and they had a whole nother problem.
Pivoting on her heel slightly, the flame haired beauty gave the other woman a good look at her face. Feeling her canines peek out of her lips, she gave an evil smile that brought her emerald eyes to glow in a way that was not normal to humans. "And since she has NO idea what shes dealing with here... thats a really stupid move."
Derek:
This was going to be interesting. The blond was obviously irritated by what she considered foul treatment but her angry words were like gasoline on a smoldering spark. Derek couldn't help but shake his head as Kat's face closed down and her "nice cop" persona went right out the window. Had it been any other time, it probably would have been entertaining but the wolf braced himself to grab the commander in case she decided to snap at their "guest".
Thankfully though, the redhead simply turned her razer edged tongue on the woman instead. Obviously, Kat didn't like the womans remarks but she wasn't about to suck her into a dry husk and discard the body in a ditch. Point for their side. To bad that Ms. Weston didn't seem to get exactly what kind of predicament she was in.
Pushign away from the wall, Derek prowled forward with the natural grace of his heritage. His eyes were dark and seemed to dance with an inward amusement at he glanced between the two. "Ladies.... Lets just settle on down now. No need for claws and teeth now. We are all civilied people here.. I'm sure we can come to an understanding."
Turning his attention to the blond, the shifter continued. "As for you, the commander does have a point even if it could have been put in ... better terms. While I understand your attitude in theory.. You really have no idea what you almost screwed up. Neither do you know who we are and pissing us off isn't really in your best interests. I assure you, we've been flying low key for far to long to be concerned with one more missing person. We won't kill you but we can sure as hell keep you locked up for a very, VERY long time. No one would have any clue where you went either."
Letting that soak in for a moment, the dark haired soldier crossed his arms over his chest and then smiled ruefully.
"Luckily for you, we don't happen to harm civilians and its our duty to protect them. Which we were trying to do when you crashed our party. I find it interesting that you know so much about things but not really surprising. There are those out there who we cordinate with that are freelance hunters. My guess is that is exactly what you are which means we might be on the same side. That is, if your story pans out like you say."
From the corner of his eyes, Derek saw Kat relax just a bit as his words gave her logical side time to spring forth. Past experience told him that the auburn haired beauty was already calculating things in her head and plotting a contingency plan. Actually, if he knew her, and he did, she had contingency plans upon contingency plans.
"So.. I suppose what I'm saying is that if you can hang on to your tongue... We might find a way out of this that benifits us all. Growling and snapping at each isn't going to do anything more than make us enemies." JO
Jo narrowed her eyes and tried to bite her tongue. It's not like she didn't understand the predicament she was in, it was just the fact that all she was doing was her job. That they thought she was just there to interfere with whatever the hell they were doing was just not computing in her mind.
Her eyes widen when she saw the bit of fang on the redhead. Well, well, well. What do we have here? she thought. Then realized her vampire comment probably didn't go over so well. For fuck's sake. How the hell was she supposed to know this chick was a vampire. Jo closed her eyes and tried to send out the feeling of calm, but she was having trouble focusing. There was just too much floating around in her brain.
"Okay, look. just because you guys are all fancy smancy organized and have this like camando group of people doesn't mean that you are the only one's trying to protect people. Let's cut the bullshit okay. Obviously there is no doubt that all of us here know about the Supernatural. And granted, despite your Commander's growly disposition and the fact that eating me has probably crossed her mind because I pissed her off. I realize that not ALL supes, including vampires are bad. That is NOT what I was implying. The fact of the matter is, until you know your opposition, you have to assume they are hostile. It's the smart thing to do. You gotta be on your toes. Especially, when you're like ME and don't have a whole team at my command and have to go it alone. So, excuse me if I seem a little bit itchy on the trigger finger and a little bit snarky in my comments. I do the job you guys do... which you probably get paid for... Which I don't... plus I do it alone."
She paused for a moment and took a deep breath.
"Then I have to sit here and wonder what the hell you're going to do to me. Yeah, I'm not stupid. You could lock me up and throw away the key. I could die in this cell. Whatever, I got caught by a superior force. That comes with the territory. So, if you think I'm gonna roll over and play dead, it's not likely. It's not MY fault that Jordan guy was after the same thing I was. I had no idea who he was. All I knew was he was trying to take something very important to the fate of the world away from me."
Jo sighed heavily and tried to focus again. Pushing out a calming vibe.
"We ARE on the same side in this. Unfortunately I am NOT on the team, so to speak. I don't want to cause you problems. I just want to know what the hell is going on."
Running a hand through her blond hair she kept trying to stifle the anger and frustrated feelings down. This was a difficult situation for all involved she guessed. She needed to stay level headed. Letting the calming vibe wash over her she moved and went to sit down on the bunk and put her head in her hands.

Kat:
OK, so maybe Kat could respect all that. Hell, if she were in her shoes, she'd be doing a whole lot worse, probably. Well, maybe not since she had always been taught to keep her cool in any situation, but that didn't mean she wouldn't have been THINKING about it at least. It was the nature of the beast to attack first when cornered and at least the woman showed nerve instead of cowering in a corner. Kat had never been able to respect sniveling fools and this blond went up in her estimation as she fought through her anger and made a logical argument.
So... Catching the speaking glance Derek sent in her direction, Kat took a deep breath and hid a smile before she turned back around and crossed her arms over her chest. Leaning back on the glass mirror and propping one boot on the edge of the frame, the red head eyed Jo for a long moment before speaking. When she did, her voice was once again calm and collected.
"First off... Lets get one thing straight. Yes, I'm a vampire but no.. I'm not going to eat you. No matter how pissed I get. I might leave the room and go punch the hell out of Jordan a time or two but ..He's used to it. I think he gets off on it in fact." she drawled out, a bit of amusement in her tone. "Secondly, our unit is full of supernaturals so you might keep that in mind when you run your mouth. Some of them might not take kindly to it and DeVoux and I won't always be around to protect you from ramifications. We're a close knit group because we've had to be. We work and we play together and there isnt' a one of us here who wouldn't die for a squad mate."
Pausing to let those words sink in, Kat continued. "As far as what we are going to do with it... Well, I suppose that depends on you. The way I see it... We've got one of two options. Obviously, we can't let you run around knowing about us so ... letting you go is out of the question. Which leaves us keeping you in this cell... or finding you a place among us..... If you can prove yourself, that is. We run a tight ship around here and everyone pulls their own weight. If you can't keep up or do whats needed, your a liability to us. However, if your actually what you say you are..... Then you should know enough to be of use. There will be extensive training, of course. We don't let any pansy asses into our family so I hope you eat your Wheaties."
Tilting her head, the commander waiting for Jo to look at her and then smiled a bit. "After a bit of time and we can trust you, you'll be allowed holidays and furlongs. We aren't monsters or gang ships by any means. We all have lives outside this unit but because of what we do... Its dangerous to involve those we love unless needed. We keep our identities safe and locked up tighter than Fort Knox. There are those out there who'd like to see us all dead so obviously there is danger in what we do but we exist to keep the world a safer place. Without those of us out there on the front lines.... There world would be a much more dangerous place. What you've done to date?? Its nothing compared to what we do. We go after the big dogs and we've got first rate technology to do it with. Sound like something you wanna be part of?

Jo rubbed her hands over her face and through her hair. Listening to the "Commander" speak her piece. Thankfully in a calmer tone and with her fangs retracted. Lifting her head she made eye contact with both the Commander and Lt. Colonel. She let the words that were spoken ping around in her head for a bit. Mulling them over. She couldn't help but chuckle when the Commander mentioned punching that Jordan dude. A thought that had crossed her own mind. If he hadn't been there in the first place none of this would have ever happened. She wasn't even sorry that she had shot him in the ass. He deserved it. She let out a sigh. That wasn't true. It wasn't her intention to shoot him and she was sorry it had happened.
Crossing her arms over her chest she remained seated on the bunk. She was listening intently and it took her a moment for it to dawn on her what the redhead was saying. Jo quirked up an eyebrow and pursed her lips as she eyed the woman.
"Hold on a minute. Back this train up. A place among you? Prove myself? Training? Something I want to be a part of?"
Was the woman serious? Were they scamming her just to keep her from being a pain in their asses? The looks on both of their faces were dead serious. Well, holy sheep shit. This was totally unexpected. While she hadn't exactly thought they were going to keep her locked up forever. That just didn't seem to go with being the good guys. Which, they seemed to be. However, thoughts of some kind of high tech memory erasing had crossed her mind. But, asking her to be a part of the team? They thought she could be of use? She hadn't even told them about her own special "ability."
"OK, let me get this straight. I just wanna make sure that I'm not hallucinating or anything like that. Are you asking me to be a part of this team you have? The one with the Commanders and Colonels, helicopters and high tech gadgetry? Seriously?"
Jo let her arms drop in her lap. Staring at them for all of about half a second. Like there was a really tough decision to be made here. Only if she was insane was it a hard decision. Well, she supposed, that all depended on who you were really, but a person like her. This was a golden opportunity. A chance to be part of something bigger. To make a REAL difference in things. To be able to take the information that vampire she was after had and DO something with it. Not have to figure out a way to let the authorities know about the threat without them thinking she belonged in the looney bin. For Jobeth Weston, there was no choice, there was only one answer.
"Hell, yes. Sign me up. Training, proving myself, whatever. I'm on board. And... I think I may have more to offer than you might be aware of."
She left that hanging in the air for them to ponder. The grin on her own face was stretching out a mile wide. Who knew something like this was going to happen. Then she stopped her little mental celebration and gave her two interrogators a side ways glance.
"Uh... Am I gonna have to work with that Jordan guy? I mean... Normally, I wouldn't mind. But, I don't think that he's really all that happy with me at the moment. Since I kind of shot him in the ass and all. I really didn't mean it. I'm sorry about that. I'll apologize and everything."
Still sitting on the edge of the bunk she chewed on her lip. Wondering if that little incident was going to be a problem. Maybe blow up the whole works before she even got a chance.

Watching the other woman compute all the information she'd given her, Kat leaned back against the wall and slanted Derek a look. When he simply gave her a half smile, she knew she'd made the best call possible. Normally, she would have been confident in her own judgement but she was not infallible and the newness of her new self made her second guess everything.
When the blond began to speak, Kat shifted her attention and waited for her to quiet. She seemed to be rambling a bit but that was to be expected, the redhead thought. Her words about Lt. Jordan though made her chuckle.
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about Curse. He takes his orders from myself and Lt. Colonel DeVoux. If we tell him hes going to do something... He'll do it. No worries there." she drawled out, a slight smile playing about her lips. "As far as the whole titles thing... Most of us are military so we have ranks. The rest of the members are civilians like yourself so you won't be required to salute them. You will show them proper respect though or I'm sure they'll sort you out in short order."
Grinning finally, the slender vampire pushed away from the wall.
"Now then... As you said, I'm sure your hungry so lets solve that problem first. Then, we'll show you around a bit but I wouldn't suggest any escape attempts. All of the doors and locks on this place are state of the art and without a clearance scan of your retina and a few other things... You won't be getting out any time soon. For our protection and yours."
Pausing by the door, she gave evidence to her words as she paused before a box and hit a few keys before putting face to a box. A loud buzz sounded as the cell door made a loud "pop" out of its vaccum seal and then the commander was stepping over the barrier.
"Well, are you coming or not? I don't have all day... Some of us have work to do." she chided, impatience already in her demeanor as the next matter of business rambled into her head.

Jo gave a little smile and nodded when the commander mentioned that the thing with Curse wouldn't be an issue. In the back of her mind though, she wasn't quite that confident. She had shot the poor guy in the ass. If it had been her, she surely would have been pissed off about that. Giving a little sigh she decided to let that go for now. No sense dwelling on it. These people had just given her a golden opportunity and she was taking it.
When the commander got up and went through the process of opening the cell door, Jo sat mesmerized for a second. The sound of the commanders voice though had Jo jumping up from the bunk and all but sprinting through the door. Giving her two new bosses a sly grin.
"You don't have to tell me twice. Let's go check this puppy out."
