Laila had landed a job on the beach. It was a city job that was decent pay and benefits. However, she couldn't come through with her name for the job. The government was still on a search for her after she had escaped. Her newest handle was Ashley Day. With the right contacts she was able to easily procure the right paperwork to go under this name.
Currently, that's where Laila was. She sat upon the lifeguard tower, eyes shaded. Her brown hair was pulled up in a ponytail. She wore a two piece red bathing suit with the lifeguard emblem right in the center of her chest.
Sitting in a chair, her feet were propped comfortably into a chair that was in front of her. On the tower she had all sorts of equipment that was needed, one being the binoculars hanging around her neck. She was surveying the beach, combing it over with a fine tooth comb.
Her eyes settled on a few people that were swimming in the water, but had started to venture outside of the area that was marked off. There was a reason for the markers after a certain point. The water was deeper after that point, the current was heavier, and there could be sharks lurking out there.
Standing up quickly, her binoculars dropped to her chest and she picked up the horn that amplified her voice. She brought it to her lips and yelled out, "No crossing the barrier!" She wanted to add idiots, but knew that wouldn't be real professional. Plus, she didn't need a fight. The worst thing that could happen would be for her to lose her cool.
The small group started to backpedal. She was happy to see it and went back to her seat where she propped her feet up in the chair across from her.
The sun was so hot, ridiculously hot today. What she wouldn't give for a ice cold refreshment or an ice cream? The thought of it made her feel worse. She felt like she was melting out there.
